As the user of an oil-immersed transformer, if you want to minimize equipment failures, extend service life and ensure stable power supply, you must keep in mind all key points covering installation, operation, inspection and maintenance.Place the equipment in a well-ventilated and dry area free of corrosive dust and flammable and explosive materials. Reserve sufficient space for heat dissipation and maintenance indoors, install rain and anti-leakage protection for outdoor units, secure a solid equipment base, and block all holes to prevent short circuits caused by rats and birds. Before putting a new transformer into operation, check for oil leakage on the tank and cracks or dirt accumulation on bushings by yourself. Confirm the insulating oil is qualified, and verify the intactness of accessories including gas relay, temperature controller, tap-changer and grounding device. Never mix different types of insulating oil.
Every month, tighten all wiring terminals, clean dust on radiators and bushings, and test the temperature alarm system. Conduct a comprehensive overhaul annually after cutting off power: measure insulation resistance, send insulating oil for laboratory testing, calibrate all protection components, and replace aged sealing gaskets.Wear complete high-voltage safety gear during inspection and maintenance. In case of severe oil leakage, abnormal overheating, smoke or fire, cut off the power supply at once. Use dry powder fire extinguishers or dry sand to put out fires — never spray water directly on the transformer.
